CLO petitions Amosun over unlawful acquisition of land

The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has petitioned Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, to wade into the brewing crisis in Igbin-Ojo Village, via Wasimi, in Ewekoro North Local Council Development Area of the state, over unlawful acquisition of land and threat to lives of residents by former chairman of the council, Mr. Dele Soluade.
At a press conference, the state chairman of CLO, Comrade Joseph Enitan, said the governor’s urgent intervention is necessary as Soluade is indicting the governor for acting under his instructions to trespass and grab lands, in the name of constructing Cargo Airport, despite the fact that areas needed for the project had been carved out many years back and families yet to be compensated for land acquired by the Federal Government.
When The Guardian contacted Soluade on phone, he denied the alleged invasion, noting that he was actually representing the state government on the project, which he said when completed would create employment and open up the area for further development.
“I am from the area, likewise the governor. My community and that of the governor are also affected. The governor was there recently and we met the Baale on the developments. So, I don’t know why I am being accused wrongly.”
