Towards advancing digital skills among Nigerian youths, NerdzFactory Company has partnered with the World Bank, the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to implement the digital skills component of the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project.

Founding Partner of NerdzFactory, Ademulegun Olowojoba, said this collaboration “marks a strategic move aimed at transforming Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system, with the goal of enhancing the country’s skills development framework to meet industry demands and labor market needs.”

He explained that the IDEAS Project sought to tackle key challenges in Nigeria’s skills acquisition sector by improving alignment between formal education and the realities of the labor market.

Through the involvement of private sector players like NerdzFactory, the initiative hopes to inject new energy and resources into the training system, while also making it more appealing to private investors.

At the core of this collaboration is the firm’s new TechBridge Programme, a technology-focused initiative designed to equip young Nigerians with essential digital and workplace skills.

Olowojoba said the programme will be launched in Lagos and Rivers States, and will provide training in critical digital areas such as Graphic Design, Product Design, Digital Marketing, Product Management, and Front-end Web Development.

“In addition to these core technical skills, the programme will also place emphasis on developing workplace and life skills, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for the dynamic and rapidly changing world of technology,” he added.

Expressing his excitement about the partnership and the impact it will have on Nigerian youth, Olowojoba noted: “We are delighted to be partnering with the World Bank, the Federal Ministry of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education on the IDEAS Project. This initiative is a testament to NerdzFactory’s commitment to empowering individuals and communities through targeted skill development and the creation of economic opportunities. By providing youth with high-demand tech expertise, we are not only preparing them to thrive in the fast-paced environment of the future workforce, but also cultivating a new generation of innovators and leaders poised to drive significant growth within Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.”  He disclosed that training under the TechBridge Programme is scheduled to begin this month and will run until December 2024.

“The programme will be entirely free for participants, thanks to fully sponsored scholarships that cover all tuition costs. In addition to classroom learning, participants will gain practical experience, and upon successful completion of the programme, they will receive industry-recognidsed certifications. Moreover, the programme offers opportunities for internships and job placements with top organisations, access to mentorship from experienced industry professionals, and business support for those looking to start their own tech ventures,” he added.
