Constituents protest against return ticket for Ondo senator

Senator Yele Omogunwa

Members of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo South senatorial district yesterday protested against the candidature of Senator Yele Omogunwa.

According to them, the choice of Omogunwa would spell electoral woes for the party in the next general elections.

They warned that the return ticket given to him by the party’s NWC would not only lead to massive failure in the six councils, but also the failure of President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election.

The protesters, who mobilised from across Odigbo, Ese-Odo, Ilaje, Okitipupa, Irele and Okeigbo/Ileluji councils, besieged the party secretariat in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Council Area to register their grievances.

They chanted protest songs and carried placards with various inscriptions as: “Ondo South rejects Yele Omogunwa,” “Ondo South says no to imposition,”

They also expressed concern that the NWC shunned the party primaries and other aspirants as Morayo Lebi, Odunayo Akinrinsola, Olatunji Felder, Lucky Ayedatiwa and Feyisola Ebisola, to give the ticket to Omogunwa, who joined the party less than two years ago.
