Confirms arrest of provost, bursar, others
Chairman, Governing Council of Mufutau Lanihun College of Education, Ibadan, Oyo State, Prof. Taslim Hammed, has condemned fraud running into several millions of naira allegedly perpetrated by some principal officers of the institution.
The officers, who had been arrested by the police, were alleged to have issued certificates of the college to non-graduates.
According to a statement personally signed by Hammed, the Provost, Lawal Ayodele; Registrar, Adebolu Sirajudeen; Bursar, Akanji Abdulrasak, and Admission Officer, Jimoh Malik, were alleged to be complicit in the scam.
Hammed, who disclosed that the quartet had been suspended in line with the rules governing the institution, said they would be made to face the institution’s disciplinary committee.
The chairman noted that the Council, at its emergency meeting held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, considered as disturbing the incident of the arrest and detention by the police of some members of staff of the college.
He said: “The Council at its meeting under reference, established the fact that the members of staff involved in the criminal act did so on their own volition without the knowledge of the proprietor and the Governing Council.
The proprietor and the board would carry out an immediate audit of the institution
“The board also resolved to cooperate fully with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Oyo State Police Command and other security agencies in their investigation and prosecution of the suspended persons (staff and students).
“Our College commends all the ongoing reforms and developmental efforts being carried out by the Federal Ministry of Education and JAMB in the education sector.”
