Justice Ibrahim Nasir Buba of a Federal High Court, Lagos, has sentenced a former bank official, Andrea Chizoba Okpalangwu, to seven years imprisonment over N146.633 million fraud.

Justice Ibrahim Nasir Buba of a Federal High Court, Lagos, has sentenced a former bank official, Andrea Chizoba Okpalangwu, to seven years imprisonment over N146.633 million fraud.

Justice Buba, who sentenced the female banker after she was found guilty of the offence brought against her by the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, also ordered the convict to refund the N146.633 million she defrauded the bank.

The prosecution had through his counsel, Mr. Chukwu Agwu, filed a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and obtained under false pretence.

However, while delivering judgment, the judge held that the prosecution proved that the convict while working with the bank conspired with a company and its member of staff to defraud the bank of N146.633 million.
