A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Wednesday ordered the arrest and remand of Adeleye Oduniyi, ,who stood surety for Victor Banor, a dismissed police officer.

Justice Okon Abang ordered that Oduniyi should be remanded in prison custody, in line with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

He adjourned the case to Dec. 4, for mention.

Banor is facing a seven-count charge bordering on fraud, forgery and illegal possession of firearms.
He was arraigned on May 15, and had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Abang had granted him bail in the sum of N20 million, with two sureties in the sum of N10 million each.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Justin Enang, had told the court that the accused had jumped bail since he got it and was still at large.

According to the prosecutor, Banor was dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force after he was accused of theft.
“The accused also diverted the salaries of various police officers, while serving as Officer-in-Charge of the Mechanised Salaries Section (MSS),’’ he said.

Enang said that after the accused was dismissed from service, he started impersonating various police officers.
