Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of a Lagos Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja has remanded four men in a correctional facility for engaging in cultism and armed robbery.

The defendants: Femi Oguntukesi, Kazeem Sheriff, Adelokun Abiodun and Seun Metelewa were arraigned on a four-count charge brought against them by the state government.

The prosecution accused the defendants of conspiracy, possession of firearms, membership of an unlawful society (Eiye confraternity), and robbery.

They were alleged to have robbed one Anas Ubi of his Bajaj motorcycle, at Ishawo road, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, on March 17, 2022.

Their offences were contrary to the provision of Sections 42, 299, 51 and 297(2) (a) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to all the four counts.

Following their plea, the lead state counsel, Adebanke Ogunode, informed the court that one of her witnesses is present in court and asked for a trial date.

Responding, the defence counsel, G. E. Iyoha, told the court that he intends to file their bail application.

Justice Abike-Fadipe subsequently adjourned the matter till July 10 for trial.
