An Upper Area Court in Makurdi on Tuesday ordered that two brothers, charged with armed robber, be remanded in a Federal Medium Maximum Correctional Centre.

The police charged Terkula, 24, and Peter Tsekaa, 18,  with armed robbery.

The judge, Mrs Dooshima Ikpambese, did not take the plea of the brothers for want in the jurisdiction.

Ikpambese adjourned the case until April 1 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Veronica Shaagee told the court that the case was transferred from the “D” Division Police Station to State Criminal Investigation Department Makurdi via letter No. AR:3100/BNS/MKD/VOL.6/572 dated March 3.

Shaagee said that Mr James Ode of Mobile Barracks, Makurdi, reported the case at the ‘D’ Division Police Station Makurdi on Feb. 27.

She said the brothers and others at large, attacked and robbed Ode, an informant at gunpoint on his way back from Church.

The police said that the brothers pointed a pistol at Ode and also stabbed him with a knife on his back.

The police also alleged that the brothers stole Ode’s OPPO AS cell phone worth N93,000, two sim cards,  one Holy Rosary worth N150,00 and N100.00o cash.

Shaagee further said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 1(1) (2)(3)(b) of the Robbery and Firearm Special Provision Act, 2004.
