The trial of the Federal High Court in Abuja has resumed the trial of five individuals accused of orchestrating the attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, in June 2022.
This development comes two years after worshippers were killed in the Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, in June 2022.The five suspects were arraigned on August 11 before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja, by the Department of State Services (DSS) on nine-count terrorism terrorism charges.
They were also accused of being members of the Al Shabab terrorist group, which has a cell in Kogi State.
The five suspects who were identified as Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulraheem Idris and Momoh Otuo Abubakar, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
They were aso alleged to have held meetings with other members of the terrorist group in Kogi and Ondo before the attack.
