AN Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has sentenced two men, Yemi Adeola and Femi Adeyemo, to death and life imprisonment, respectively, for armed robbery and conspiracy.

An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has sentenced two men, Yemi Adeola and Femi Adeyemo, to death and life imprisonment, respectively, for armed robbery and conspiracy.

The convicts were tried on a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.

Justice Omolara Adeyemi, who gave the judgment yesterday, said the convicts were apprehended at the scene of the offence.

According to Adeyemi, the prosecuting counsel, Mrs. Seun Ademola-Salami, proved the allegations against the convicts beyond reasonable doubts.

“I hereby find them guilty as charged and sentence them to death and life imprisonment,” she said.

Earlier, Ademola-Salami told the court that the convicts and others at large, on November 27, 2018, at House 2, Dende Bovas Garage, off Iyana Eku, Larodo, Ibadan, conspired to commit felony with armed robbery.

This, she said, contravened Section 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Acts, Laws of the Federation, 2010.

She had also told the court that the duo, on the same date and place, were armed with dangerous weapons such as toy gun and cutlass.

She added that they attempted to attack and rob one Akinyemi Olanrewaju of his Africa cell phone worth N5,000, cash of N150,000 and recharge cards.

“They committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 5(2) of the Robbery and Firearms laws, 2010,” she said.
