THE Cross River State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has destroyed six illegal refineries and arrested 15 suspects for various offences.

Also, the command impounded drums of diesel and recovered stolen electricity cables.

Briefing reporters in Calabar, the State Commandant, Adeuyi Dayo Clement, said three of the seven suspects had been convicted.

Reviewing the outgone year, Clement said the agency had stepped up activities to stamp out illegal bunkering and diversion of petroleum products.

According to him, the command was working with other security agencies in the state to ensure crime was checked considerably.

Its achievements notwithstanding, Clement decried shortage of operational vehicles and appealed to government and well-meaning organisations for assistance.
