APC National Women Leader, Betta Edu receives award
Barely five months ago the ebullient National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr Betta Edu resigned as the National Chairman of all the Health Commissioners in Nigeria and Commissioner for Health in Cross River without knowing that she had created a niche for herself in the health sector owing to her professionalism, passion, innovation, hard and humanitarian work in Health Programmes implementation like Immunisation and COVID-19 response.
Today, her good work still speaks volumes as the Federal Ministry of Health and National Primary Health Care Development Agency invited Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade to receive an Immunisation Performance Recognition award where the state emerged as the best performing state in the South-South zone during the period Dr. Betta Edu served as Cross River State Commissioner of Health.
Edu in her goodwill message thanked the Federal Government for recognising all the efforts of Ayade in the health sector, noting that the best for the country in that sector is coming with the candidature of Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She promised that the state will maintain its top position and remain outstanding in the health sector. She congratulated the Cross River health team for the well-deserved award, charging them to do more.
The award was presented by the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; Minister of Health, Dr Ehanire; and Executive Director, NPHCDA, Dr Faisal Shuaibu; while other top dignitaries include the Governors of Kano, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule, Deputy Governor of Ebonyi, Kelechi Igwe, Ogun, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and Kaduna states, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe; Director General, CRSPHCDA, Dr. Janet Ekpeyong; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Cross River State, Dr Iwara Iwara; and the state Immunisation officer, Mrs Joy Chabo.
