Cross River senator distributes fertilisers to 3,000 farmers
Sen. Williams Eteng has distributed fertilisers to 3000 farmers in Cross River State to boost their yield in the farming season.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Eteng, who represented Cross River Central in the 10th assembly, flagged off the distribution in the administrative headquarters of the senatorial district on Saturday.
Eteng said it was part of his contribution to combat food insecurity in the state and the country in general.
He noted that the distribution of the varieties of fertilisers would be carried out across the 66 wards of the senatorial district.
“My effort is consistent with both federal and state government’s bid to boost agricultural productivity and achieve food security.
“It will also help to address the current food shortage in the country,” he stated.
The lawmaker stated that the distribution was facilitated through the APC party chairmen of the district.
He assured the people that the distribution would be done transparently across the central parts of the state.
The senator urged beneficiaries to utilise the fertilisers for the intended purpose, and should not sell them.
He reiterated his commitment to empowering farmers and boosting food production in his constituency and across the state.
