Customs hands over seized Cannabis worth millions to NDLEA

The Nigeria Customs Service, Niger-Kogi Command, has intercepted and handed over 283 wraps of cannabis sativa to the Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Minna.

The estimated duty-paid value of the seized cannabis sativa is worth ₦5,666,000.

Comptroller Pascal Chibuoke of the Niger-Kogi Command disclosed this while briefing journalists on the command’s activities over the past four weeks.

Receiving the cannabis sativa on behalf of NDLEA, Niger State Commander Shehu Gwadabawa expressed gratitude for the inter-agency collaboration.

Chibuoke highlighted the successful seizure, and detention of nine units of vehicles with a cumulative duty-paid value of over ₦170m.

He praised his team’s resilience and doggedness, assuring that the command will continue to reward officers who excel in their duties.

In August, 2024, The Nigeria Customs intercepted 1,153 parcels of cannabis worth N57,688,448 in the Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The seizure followed the interception of a truck along the Yambao axis of Bukuro in the Baruten Local Government Area on 3 July 2024 by operatives of the Kwara Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.
