Declaration of state of emergency should not be taken as an endgame but a step in right direction, says Efekoro

A solution to the political crisis in Rivers state is long overdue and I applaud President Bola Tinubu of taking action to deter further escalation. The declaration should not be taken as an endgame but a step in the right direction.

While there is probably no evidence that Nyesom Wike is the mastermind behind the Rivers State political crisis, there is no doubt that his name is boldly written all over it. Wike cannot be allowed to make any state in Nigeria ungovernable, while he remains the Head of the neutral territory, The Federal Capital Territory.

Therefore, President Bola Tinubu should send Nyesom Wike on a Special Assignment as part of a committee to resolve the Rivers political crisis. Thereafter, he will resume his position as Minister of the FCT. It is in the best interests of the people of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole, that Wike should not be allowed to remain Minister of the FCT at this time.
