Defence minister denies B’Haram occupation of Borno councils
The Minister of Defence, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali, yesterday denied that Boko Haram insurgents are currently occupying two Borno council areas.
This was contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer to the Minister, Col. Tukur Gusau.
The statement reads in part: “For the avoidance of doubts, it is important to state here that the minister as a guest in the studios of Voice of America spoke in Hausa language; and while giving appraisal of the success recorded by the gallant armed forces under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, said over 60 local councils were previously under the occupation of Boko Haram in the North East.”
