Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Isaiah Bozimo, has said he will collaborate with Legal Aid Council of Nigeria to fight injustice in the country.
Bizim gave the assurance, yesterday when he played host to members of the council, Delta State branch in his office in Asaba.
He commended the group for their doggedness in the battle for the right of the oppressed and indigent citizens.
He assured them he would assist the group towards actualising its goals and promised to boost their manpower by deploying NYSC members to the council.
Bozimo also used the opportunity to explain the administration of Criminal Justice Laws, where their inputs would be needed.
The coordinator of the group, Mrs Imo, told the commissioner that as a body that has existed in the state for 20 years, they had been saddled with the responsibilities of assisting indigent citizens of the state to access justice through free representation in courts.
She added that they also do periodic visits to correctional centres, where they interviewed indigent inmates, who could not afford lawyers to represent them.
According to her, they also have mediation centres in their offices to mediate between conflicting parties by restoring peace.
