Five inmates from Suleja custodial centre regain freedom
Operatives of Quick Response Squad (QRS), attached to Delta State Police Command, yesterday, arrested 26-year old Chukwuma Owoh and two other suspected cultists along Pessu Corner in Warri.
The Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest, gave the names of other suspects as Ediri Ogendengbe ‘m’, 32 and Alfred Kess ‘m’ 38.
Edafe said they were arrested during a stop and search duty along Pessu Corner in Warri.
According to him, police officers intercepted a tricycle with three occupants and upon search of the occupants, one locally made cut-to-size gun and four live cartridges were recovered from them.
He said one of the suspects, Owoh confessed that he bought the gun from one Haruna of Hausa market Warri, and that he was on his way to Pessu in search of some Aiye confraternity cult members that attacked his younger sister.
While declaring that the suspects are currently in custody as the police are investigating the matter, he urged officers and men of the Command to sustain the crime reduction tempo.
Edafe admonished them to be polite to members of the public while on duty, saying, “incivility to members of the public will no longer be tolerated.”
