Difficult times await treasury looters, says Magu
“Corruption has dealt a great blow on the socio-economic life of this country, as such treasury looters will no longer be treated with kid gloves,” he said.
Magu gave this warning on Thursday, at a cocktail party in honour of the EFCC Detective Inspector Course 4, held at the Nigerian Defence Academy Cadets Mess, Ribadu Campus, Kaduna.
According to him, “With the recruitment and training of these 161 men and 22 women and with the ongoing training of another batch of 314 officers, the president has fresh hands to start a new offensive against treasury looters in Nigeria.”
The EFCC boss described the training as “a priceless opportunity to serve the country”, advising the cadets not to waste the opportunity through indiscipline and corrupt practices.
“As for the Cadet Inspectors, let me warn you that this is a priceless opportunity to serve your country. We brought you to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to teach you discipline and selfless service. Do not waste this opportunity through indiscipline and corrupt practices,” Magu said.
He warned the new cadets that the long hand of law would catch anyone of them who abuse his/her office in the course of discharging their duties, as the EFCC has zero tolerance for corruption.
Magu thanked the NDA for making the training a success, saying, “the Commission looks forward for more collaboration of this kind.”
Earlier, the Commandant, EFCC Academy, David Tukura, congratulated the new operatives saying: “They have undergone an amazing transformation.”
He said the new cadets, who looked confused on their first day at the NDA on December 11, 2016, have moved from confusion to confidence and charged them to always be disciplined and committed.
In his remark, the Commandant, NDA, Major General A. Oyebade, advised graduands to make good use of the platform given to them, by serving the country professionally and making a difference.
“This is a tough call, you must take the decision that is in the interest of the country, for those who will make the country better will have their names written in gold,” Oyebade said.
