
Chief Joseph Uzor Dike, who doubled as the Okpala-Uku and Iyasele Onowu of Onuaboh in Ndokwa East Local Council of Delta State has passed on at 93.

According to family sources, Dike died surrounded by family and loved ones after a brief illness arising from complications due to old age.
Dike retired as a teacher and served his community in several capacities.
He was former Chairman of Ndosimili Association, Chairman of the then National Republican Convention (NRC) in the then Ndokwa Local Council, who guided the then Prof. Eric Opia gubernatorial campaigns.
He had almost a 40-year career as a teacher, where he established and was founding Headmaster of most schools in several communities in the then Mid-West Region.
He was very active in the politics of the area and was, at various times, a grassroots political leader.
He was appointed Chief Refugee Officer for War affected areas after the Nigerian Civil war, a role reprised last year when he single handedly mobilised efforts to raise almost N5 million for flood disaster victims in his community.
Dike is survived by wife, Mrs. Margaret Dike and 11 children among whom are Ms. Veronica Dike, Chief Magistrate Ferdinand Dike, Ms. Philomena Dike, Dr. Kenneth Dike and Bishop Jonathan Dike.
His funeral arrangements will be announced later.
