As part of efforts aimed at providing solutions to rampant health issues predominant among the less privileged, Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial Foundation (DOAMF) recently organised a-three-day free medical outreach at Iyinshi/ Amaimo Primary Health Centre, Ikeduru Local Council, Imo State.

With the theme: “’ Accelerating the fight against malaria to deliver zero malaria,” the beneficiaries had a one-on-one session with trained medical personnel.

The outreach, which focused on diagnosis and treatment of malaria, eye defects, high blood pressure, blood sugar level, urinary tract infections, ulcers and typhoid, impacted over seven hundred lives, including children youths and the aged.

The Foundation’s Senior Programme Officer, Ruth Nwachukwu, said access to free and quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone.

To her, the Foundation has consistently touched lives of the less privileged by providing essential healthcare services in different communities over the past seventeen years.

The programme officer for health, Esther Ogbu, expressed happiness at the high turnout of the indigenes, stating, “we observed that a lot of people are not going for medical checkups due to the present economic situation in the country, so opportunities like this offer them hope and keep them smiling.”

She further stressed the need for Nigerians to visit optometrists regularly in order to maintain good vision.

Ruth further appealed to well-meaning individual to partner with the Foundation so as to provide quality healthcare services in their communities and put smiles on the faces of the indigent.

One of the medical personnel present, Dr. John Akhere revealed the Foundation provides comprehensive health care service in ensuring that beneficiaries receive care and support they need for a healthy living.

During the three-day outreach, beneficiaries with different health challenges were diagnosed and treated, while those that needed to revisit the clinic were advised to do so.

The outreach was supported by Bond Chemicals Industries, Jawa Pharmaceuticals Limited, and Boost Opticals.
