Dogara condoles with Benue over Tor Tiv’s death
The Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday, condoled with the government and people of Benue State over the demise of Tor Tiv, Alfred Torkula.
This condolence is conveyed in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to the Speaker, Mr Turaki Hassan in Abuja.
Dogara said Nigeria had lost one of its finest traditional rulers.
According to the speaker, the late traditional ruler was a man of peace who worked assiduously to bring about peace in his kingdom.
“His reign as Tor Tiv witnessed unprecedented development, peace and tranquillity in Tiv land.
“He helped in uniting the various ethnic groups in northern Nigeria as a strong believer in the unity and indivisibility of Nigeria.’’
According to Dogara, the late monarch has written his name in gold in the annals of Nigeria as a symbol of unity.
“Our special condolence goes to the late monarch’s family and the entire Tiv nation in Nigeria.
“I pray God grants them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss
