Professor of Public Relations and Media Strategy at the Rivers State University (RSU), Prof Richard Amadi, has blamed the rising societal crisis on the lack of effective communication.

Professor of Public Relations and Media Strategy at the Rivers State University (RSU), Prof Richard Amadi, has blamed the rising societal crisis on the lack of effective communication.

Citing unabated crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), resulting in party members defecting to other parties, cracks in organisation, families, parastatals and even in government, the public relations expert attributed all to breach of trust caused by lack of quality public relations and communications strategy.

He regretted that some crises in the nation had snowballed into precarious situations affecting various sectors of the economy and impacting negatively the living standard of the people due to the inability of the people to dialogue and chat a way forward.

According to Amadi, engaging in dialogues, and communication strategies are vital tools capable of resolving crises, but people and government have neglected them; hence so a protracted crisis affects growth and development in the country.

Amadi stated this while delivering the 103rd inaugural lecture series of RSU, tagged, ‘Enthropic and Negentropic Coactions in Humanistic Setting: The Public Relations Metier and its Dynamics’.

He described the topic as apt because it highlighted the importance of public relations as a pathway to enduring harmony and balance in a polarised and turbulent world, like Nigeria.
