Convener, Movement For the Sustenance of Buhari’s Policies, Miftahu Aliyu Hassan has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC), not to present any candidate for the 2023 Presidential election to avoid unprecedented defeat in the poll.
Hassan issued the warning yesterday, in Ikeja, Lagos where members of the group gathered to deliberate on national security, economy, fight against corruption, the 2023 Presidential Election, as well as protest what the group called failed promises by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
The group said it supported the President in the 2015 election due to his manifesto and policies on paper, but the party failed in the area of implementation.
He said after the extensive deliberations and brainstorming, the members concluded that the party does not stand by its words, and as such, it has become clear to all right-thinking Nigerians that the security situation is recklessly handled by the government of APC. “A chief security officer of one of the states had to abandon his state for Abuja, leaving the masses at the mercy of the terrorists, while he remotely steered the affairs of the state in Abuja for close to two years.
“We are fully aware that the remaining four geopolitical zones are also inflicted with one form of the security challenge, nothing is working right in this country. The Government might have done its best, but the best is not enough for us as citizens and stakeholders.
He said after deliberations, the only option is to consider Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) as their candidate.
“We realised that Kwankwaso is the only Presidential aspirant that poses the required qualities to steer the affairs of Nigeria at this time.
He described Kwankwaso as faithful, loyal and honest and a politician that serves Nigeria with all his strengths and defends her honour and glory.
“With these and many more, we hereby resolved to assiduously work towards the emergence of Kwankwaso as the next President of Nigeria. And we are hereby calling on our party, APC, to opt for the idea of not filling a presidential candidate and to merge with NNPP so as to avoid the embarrassment of massive defeat in the 2023 election.”
