The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has sealed 167 fuel stations in Oyo State between January and October 2019 over offences ranging from invalid operating licences, under-dispensing of petroleum products and lack of safety measures.

The Operation Controller, Ibadan Field Office of DPR, Yemi Olaonipekun, disclosed this yesterday during an interview with journalists after the DPR stormed Bashorun and Akobo in Ibadan and sealed four fuel stations for committing infractions.

The stations sealed include Forte Oil at Ashi Junction for under-dispensing petroleum with one litre and Amazing Filling Station at Air Force Junction, Akobo, for under-dispensing and poor house-keeping.

Oduwoye filling station at Yawiri at Akobo Oju-Irin was also sealed for non-availability of operating licence, among others.

The DPR boss disclosed that the reason for the exercise was to monitor the activities of cooking gas marketers as well as petroleum marketers in the state to increase the tempo of surveillance activities with a view to ensuring that the marketers are doing the right thing at all time.
