DSS Discovers Boko Haram Cells, Arrests 12 In Abuja
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have discovered hidden Boko Haram cells in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). It also arrested 12 suspected terrorists at different locations in the capital city and its environs, as they were allegedly planning to cause mayhem during the yuletide season.
A statement issued by the service signed by one Tony Opuiyo said the suspected terrorists migrated to Abuja from different places around the Northeast, where the counter terrorism operations have been intense.
“The Boko Haram terrorists group has continued to establish and operate sleeper cells, with the mandate to conduct surveillance and carry out subsequent attacks in the FCT.”
Opuiyo said those arrested migrated from various “conflict theatres” in the North East to the FCT, in order to enable them capitalise on the excitement of the yuletide season to launch attacks in the city.
