Easter: Remi Tinubu urges compassion, reflects on Christ’s resurrection

First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to embrace love, compassion and selflessness as they mark Easter, emphasising the significance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a symbol of hope for humanity.

In her Easter message, the First Lady described the season as a powerful reminder of the enduring strength of love, the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and the hope His resurrection offers to all.

She called on citizens to reflect on the needs of others, particularly the vulnerable, and to extend kindness and support within their communities.

“As we celebrate with our loved ones, friends, neighbours and communities, let us remember those in need and reach out with compassion,” she said.

Senator Tinubu further encouraged Nigerians to allow the spirit of Easter to inspire sacrifice, unity and a shared commitment to building a peaceful and prosperous nation.

She added that the lessons of the season should guide efforts to promote harmony, uplift the less privileged and strengthen national cohesion.

The First Lady also wished Nigerians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.

Easter, a central Christian observance, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after His crucifixion, as recorded in the New Testament.

It marks the end of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting and reflection, and symbolises God’s redemptive love, offering believers hope, renewal and reconciliation.
