Ebonyi: Umahi, Odii hail INEC, security agents

Following the massive turnout of voters during the presidential and National Assembly elections in Ebonyi State, yesterday, the duo f Governor David Umahi and the gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ifeanyi Odii, applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agents for the peaceful conduct of the elections.

Following the massive turnout of voters during the presidential and National Assembly elections in Ebonyi State, yesterday, the duo f Governor David Umahi and the gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ifeanyi Odii, applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agents for the peaceful conduct of the elections.

Speaking with journalists after casting their votes in their respective polling units, the duo praised the maturity with which both INEC and security agents handled the process.

Umahi expressed happiness over the credibility of the election, stressing that rigging would be impossible.He said that INEC had perfected the process but noted that some people may still attempt to compromise the credibility of the election by snatching ballot boxes during counting.
“INEC has perfected the process. Rigging will be impossible. There is minimal infraction but evil people will still want to strike at the end of the voting to snatch ballot boxes,” he said. 

On his part, Odii noted that INEC and security agencies had done very well.

The distribution of electoral materials to various polling units in the state started as early as 7:00am in the presence of security agents.

The election was also conducted under tight security, as operatives mounted roadblocks at strategic locations.

At Onufukuru Polling Unit 013, Umunaga, Umahi, who came along with his wife, Rachel, was accredited at 2:04pm after which he voted.

At Polling Unit 013, Pastoral Center, Abakaliki, Reverend Sisters came out in large numbers to vote.

In an interview, one of the voters, Friday Nwazunku, said the exercise was peaceful and smooth even as he expressed happiness over the large turnout.
