The Edo House of Assembly on Wednesday suspended Mr Akeredolu Folunrunsho the chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, for alleged misappropriation of public funds.

The Edo House of Assembly on Wednesday suspended Mr Akeredolu Folunrunsho the chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, for alleged misappropriation of public funds.

The suspension of the chairman followed a petition written and signed by one Mr Sunday Bello addressed to the house.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that on Oct. 6, the House suspended the chairmen of four local government councils for diversion of public funds.

Presenting the report of the ad hoc committee constituted by the House to look into the petition, Mr Sunday Aghedo the committee chairman said Folunrunsho did not show interest in the petition.

He said that the committee observed that Folunrunsho was not willing to cooperate with the members during the investigation.

He said the committee recommended that the council chairman be suspended for two months in the first instance to enable it carry out thorough investigation into the allegations.

The speaker, Victor Edoror accepted the recommendation of the committee and directed that the vice chairman should take over the administration of the council.

Meanwhile, the House has confirmed three commissioner nominees as commissioners in Edo.

The nominees are: Mr Thomas Oloko, Mr Gideon Obhakhan, and Mr Joseph Okojie.
