The Edo State government said it has concluded plans to pay N20, 000 monthly stipend to students of College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi, in Ovia North East Local Council of the state.

Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Monday Osaigbovo, who disclosed this in Benin City, said necessary arrangements have been made to pay students who embarked on a three-month industrial attachment as directed by the state government.

Osaigbovo said the N20, 000 monthly payment was part of the agreement reached to enable the students acquire practical experience during their industrial training and proceed with their programmes in select tertiary institutions in Oyo State.

He, however, urged them to shun activities capable of dragging the institution and state government into disrepute, adding that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration meant well for them.

One of the beneficiaries, Kenneth Esiri, told journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Benin City, that they have been idle since the institution was closed for one year.He noted that the one-year closure was contrary to Obaseki’s promise that the institution would be revamped within three months.
