EFCC Arraigns Edo Council Boss
TWO months after the Edo State House of Assembly cleared him of any alleged corrupt dealing, Chairman of Akoko-Edo Council, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), yesterday arraigned Folorunsho Akerejola, before a High Court in Benin.
He was arraigned with five others and they were granted bail to the tune of N3million each.
Akerejola was few months ago, along four other council chairmen, suspended because of a petition of alleged corrupt practices, but was later cleared by the Assembly.
Shortly afterwards, there were allegations that he may have compromised members of the Assembly to clear him.
Akerejola and Ogbekhilu Benjamin, Enabulele Ferguson, John Victor Ewelafoh, Gadimoh Ozaveshe and Amuda Balogun were arraigned with 12-count charge bothering on criminal conspiracy, contrary to Section 26 (1)(C) of the corrupt practices and other related offences Act, 2006.
