The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday arraigned the managing director of an Enugu-based firm “Let’s Partner With You Limited” Chief Patrick Nwokike and his wife, Rosemary before the Federal High Court, Enugu on a four-count charge of operating a bank without licence.

The EFCC arrested Nwokike on October 6, 2016 following several petitions alleging that he used his company to defraud members of the public to the tune of N4 billion.

Nwokike, according to the commission had been using the firm to carry out banking activities without approval as well as issuing advertisements inviting the public to deposit money without authorisation.

Both Nwokike and his wife pleaded not guilty when the charges were read against them, prompting their counsel, Orji Nwafor Orizu (SAN) to apply for their bail.

Justice Dugbo Oghoghorie granted them bail in the sum of N2 million each and two sureties of level 12 officers with landed property and residing in the state.

He adjourned the case to March 6, 2017 for further hearing.
