The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former member of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Gudaji Kazaure, in Kano.

Reports have indicated that Kazaure was first invited to the EFCC office in Kano, where he presented himself, only to be arrested and subsequently flown to Abuja on Wednesday.

Kazaure once represented Kazaure, Roni, Gwiwa, and Yankwashi federal constituency in the House of Representatives between 2015 to 2023.

According to reports, Kazaure was invited to the EFCC office in Kano, where he presented himself, only to be arrested and subsequently flown to Abuja on Wednesday.

Kazaure, being a staunch member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has been vocal on various issues, including insecurity and corruption allegations against a former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

On 17 December 2022, the Central Bank of Nigeria denied allegations made by Kazaure that N89.09 trillion in stamp duty collections had been diverted and that Emefiele allegedly kept $171 billion in the bank’s private investors’ account as proceeds of stamp duty.

The reasons behind his invitation and arrest are yet to be disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
