EFCC convicts 26 persons in Ilorin

The Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed that it secured 26 convictions between February when it commenced operations and September 2019.

The Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disclosed that it secured 26 convictions between February when it commenced operations and September 2019.

It also recovered several property comprising hotels, plazas, residential apartments, fleet of cars and millions of cash, which were all forfeited to the Federal Government.

Zonal Head of the agency, Isyaku Sharu said in Ilorin yesterday in his lecture at the 26th edition of the ‘Media Parliament’ of Kwara State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Sharu pointed out that the commission also checked Cyber crimes, otherwise known as “Yahoo Yahoo” in Kwara, Kogi and Ekiti states, which constitutes the zone’s areas of operation.

He said that the commission had created awareness on corruption through public enlightenment campaigns in schools and among youth corps members.
