The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the sons of businessman Razaq Okoya, Subomi and Wahab, following a trending video of them allegedly abusing the naira.

The duo appeared in the video alongside a police officer who had since been detained by the Nigeria Police Force.

“The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of the Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action,” Adejobi wrote on X.

Adejobi added that the involvement of the policeman was unethical, adding that “we will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police.”

Adejobi’s post was met with backlash from Nigerians who wondered why the Okoya brothers were spared while the policeman was detained.

They reminded the police of how crossdresser Bobrisky was arrested and jailed and also the ordeal faced by nightclub owner, Cubana Chief Priest, for a similar offense.

Following the outrage from the public, the Okoya brothers were directed by the EFCC to appear before the head, special operations team of the anti-graft agency at 15A Awolowo Road by 10am on Monday, January 13, 2025.

This was contained in a letter of invite signed by the Acting Director of the Lagos Directorate of the EFCC, Michael Wetkas.
