EFCC recovers N1.5b from contractors, others
The Abuja zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday said it had recovered N1,541,801,872 from contractors, cooperate organisations and private individuals.
The zonal head, Aminu Ado Aliyu, who made the disclosure in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), added that the anti-graft agency froze the accounts of ministries, department and agencies (MDAs) that could not satisfactorily explain their unspent votes.
Of the sum, Aliyu hinted that N940,546,98 was recovered from contractors who failed to execute Federal Government projects. Refusing to mention the affected contractors and MDAs, the EFCC chief said a good number of them were under investigation, promising to make available the details at the conclusion of inquiries.
