Egbetokun commends DSS, NSCDC, others for violence-free Edo poll

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies for their smooth collaboration and partnership during the Edo State governorship election.

The IGP gave the commendation in Abuja today while addressing newsmen.

He underscored the contribution of the security agencies in fostering strong inter-agency cooperation.

He said: “Special appreciation is due to the personnel from all security agencies involved, including the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, NSCDC, NIS, NCS, FRSC, and the Nigerian Correctional Service. Your discipline, neutrality, and unwavering commitment to law and order, public safety, and the protection of democratic processes are truly commendable.

“I extend my commendation to the officers and personnel deployed for the recent Edo State governorship election, as well as to members of other security agencies who participated in the election security management.

“Your exemplary conduct contributed to a peaceful election, exemplifying professionalism and best practices in election security. Despite assessments predicting high levels of violence, your efforts neutralised threats ahead of the election, ensuring a peaceful process.

“This achievement underscores our capacity to secure electoral processes effectively. We are grateful for the commendations received from the general public, election observers (both foreign and domestic), and civil society groups.”
