MACBAN cautions against blaming leaders for security failures

Former governor of Imo State and Senator representing lmo West Senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha, and Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Kennedy Ibeh, have rejoiced with Muslims, all over the world, as they celebrate this year’s Eid el- Fitr.

Okorocha and Ibeh, in separate statements, yesterday, and signed by their media aides, Sam Onwuemedo and Ifeanyi Onyekachi, urged Muslims to use the occasion to pray and promote peace, unity and brotherly love for the growth of the nation and beyond.

In his statement, Okorocha urged Muslims in the country to use the opportunity of the celebration to offer prayers for the nation and the citizenry.

He urged Muslim leaders, across the nation, to preach and promote peace and love, and shun actions and utterances that are capable of jeopardising nation-building.

SIMILARLY, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has cautioned against blaming those who are in authority for every security lapse.

The association rather called on Nigerians to pray for the success of leaders at different levels and arms of government and non-government, stressing the need for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians irrespective of religion, ethnicity or gender.

In the Sallah message to Nigerians, yesterday, the South-East Zonal Chairman of MACBBAN, Alhaji Siddiki Gidado, noted that the citizens should pray to usher in a renewed nation of unity, peace and love.

Siddiki noted that the sighting of the moon during Ramadan, the month of fasting and the period the Holy Koran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed, should be used for a special prayer to end insecurity, kidnapping and banditry, among other forms of criminality.
