
• RSU graduates first set of medical doctors, nurses
Eight academics of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, have been ranked among the top two per cent of global scientists in the latest Stanford-Elsevier ranking.
The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the institution, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, disclosed that the global recognition of the lecturers was borne out of the consistent research of the university, as well as its commitment to innovation.
According to Ige during a press briefing to herald the 13th convocation ceremony of the institution, the ranking has not only signposted the quality of education and mentorship system of the university but has reaffirmed the world-class standards of the institution’s academic and research capabilities.
While reeling out the achievements of the institution, the VC revealed that during the convocation ceremony, which coincided with the 25th anniversary of the university, a total of 6,837 graduands from the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions will be graduating.
Ige emphasised that 62 students were able to achieve first class status, 1,941 earned second class (Upper Division), 3,486 attained Second Class (Lower Division), 684 graduated with third class, and eight graduands fell into the Pass category.
ALSO, the Rivers State University (RSU) said its first set of medical doctors is set for graduation at its 36th convocation ceremony billed for this weekend.
The institution also announced that a total of 8,920 students will be graduating, pointing out that of the number, 6,908 are for Bachelor’s Degrees, 743 Post-Graduate Diplomas, 1,195 for Masters Degrees, and 442 for Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). He said 120 of the number are graduating with first-class.
