El-Rufai flays water shortage in Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-rufai yesterday said the state is suffering from acute water supply shortage due to rapid growth in the state’s population.

Speaking during a visit to the Federal Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu in Abuja, El-rufai said about three million people reside in Kaduna City alone, while the state hosts about five million people, but water supply to residents was not enough.

He said his visit was to solicit Federal Government’s assistance to complete the Greater Kaduna Water Supply Scheme to meet growing water demand.

“We are here today to thank the ministry for the support we received to commission the Zaria Water Supply Project, but like Oliver Twist, we are back again to solicit support from the ministry for the Greater Kaduna Water Scheme,” he said.
