Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has described the destruction of lives and property at Godogodo community in Jema’a local council of Southern Kaduna by armed herdsmen as senseless and unjustifiable.

El-Rufai stated this when he led members of the State Security Council on an assessment tour of the area.

The governor told journalists: “These killings are unjustifiable and senseless. No individual or group has a right to kill other people. Murder is inhuman and ungodly. We are sad about the needless shedding of blood. We condemn lawless conduct and disregard for life that the killers have shown. If anyone has a problem, he should not take the laws into his own hands; instead he should report to security agencies who are trained to deal with such situations.

“We came here to assess the situation and to condole with the victims. Members of the State Security Council have met here and are determined to stop the attacks and killings.”

To curb further killings in the state, the governor on Tuesday convened a meeting of the security council in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jema’a local council.

Members of the security council are the governor, his deputy, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army, the state Commissioner of Police, State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Air Officer Commanding, Nigerian Air Force Training Command Kaduna, Commander of Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology and heads of civil defence corps, NDLEA, Customs, Immigration, FRSC and the chairman of the state Council of Emirs and Chiefs, Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris.

El-Rufai and the heads of security agencies visited Ninte in Jema’a council and Angwan Mada in Sanga.
