A member of Gombe State House of Assembly, Alhaji Umar Aminu (APC), and eight others are feared killed by insurgents on Saturday.

The insurgents who attacked Dukku and Nafada local government areas of the state were said to have killed the lawmaker representing Dukku South Constituency.

A source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the insurgents, who came from Yobe, initially attacked Shole, Birin Bolewa and Birin Fulani towns of Nafada and later attacked Dukku.

There was confusion in the two areas as some voters left the polling units but others later returned to be accredited, the source said.

According to the source, the insurgents killed three persons in Nafada Local Government Area, including a policeman and killed six persons in Dukku Local Government Area, including the legislator.

The source further said the insurgents left on the Dukku-Darazo road after the attack.

DSP Fwaje Atajiri, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, confirmed the report, adding that details of the incident would be given after investigations were completed.

“There was an attack on the outskirts of Nafada in attempt to disrupt the elections.

A joint team of military and policemen promptly moved to Dukku and pushed the insurgents to the bush,” he said.

Atajiri said elections were going on in the area and other areas of the state as the Special Forces were in control of the situation.

Reacting to the death of his colleague, member representing Akko North Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Gidado Lawanti, described his death as unfortunate.

He described the deceased legislator as a friendly and nice person who went along with everybody.

Lawanti prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

NAN also reports that Aminu was fielded to re-contest the state assembly election on April 11.

So the crooked dumbo Jona lied six weeks ago when he said he would have defeated boko haram before the postponed Feb 14 elections. This is precisely why Nigerians don’t trust him.
      Change is here.
      God bless Nigeria

Nah. He had been long disowned by God for his wickedness over Nigeria. GEJ will never again preside over our dear country. He has reached his final destination, Otuoke. Never to return.

Aminu! until you and your elders start taking responsibility for the failure of your region before you see peace and civilisation like the South. Na only your place election take place? That is what you know better, destruction and killing and shift the blame to people who are taking care of their region. Go home and tell your elders to educate you so peace could reign in your generation.

An average Niger Deltans does not want Jonathan to be criticized for anything even if they can openly see with their naked eyes the fact you had wanted their man -Jonathan to see and make some changes. So sentimental and sectional a people. They are unlike the rest parts of this country, they won’t want to learn anything nor could think between the lines. The language they understood very we’ll is violence, violence in everything. I’ ve lived amongst this people for the last 23years yet I never have a single friend amongst them. Reason- they think lopsidedly, you can’t make them come close to you, so dangerous. So Aminu, let the will of God prevail. Jonathan came in to be Nigerians President by the Grace of God, no struggle, no sweat, but now he is struggling to retain himself in that same position by all means, meaning that the Grace has expired. So let’s wait and see what will happen even after the election. There is God.
