Elizade urges extension of TETFUND to private varsities
The Acting Vice Chancellor of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin in Ondo State, Prof Theophilus Fadayomi, has urged the Federal Government to extend Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to private institutions in the country.
Fadayomi said this yesterday at a press briefing to announce the maiden convocation of its first set of 35 graduates on April 28, emphasising that TETFUND will aid the institution to improve the dwindling standard of education in the country.
This, he said, would enable the university to tremendously explore research and development in some of its areas of priority like technology, agriculture, student/teacher trainings and exchange programmes.
He noted that the institution, which now has a total of 1,144 students and was licensed by Nigeria University Commission (NUC) on February 28, 2012, admitted its first set of 64 students in January 2013.
Fadayomi, who disclosed total expenditure since inception to over N18 billion, mentioned that their maiden convocation lecture will hold on Thursday, April 27, while the first Chancellor, Mr. Gbenga Oyebode (MFR) would be installed that day.
