Encomiums as don, The Guardian columnist retires

There was a rain of encomiums on Prof. Tony Esijolomi Afejuku, who recently retired as a lecturer from University of Benin (UNIBEN), as the Safi Boys Club, a gathering of old friends and colleagues, held a retirement party for The Guardian columnist.

The event, which was attended by royalties, top politicians, academia, business moguls and legal luminaries, was held in Sapele, Delta State.

Friends and former colleagues took turns to eulogise the erudite professor, as many described him as a seasoned and distinguished lecturer, who had impacted the society effectively over the years.

Reading the citation of the celebrant, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, highlighted Afejuku’s significant contributions to academia, as well as his invaluable impact on students and colleagues.

He acknowledged the celebrant’s dedication, exemplary leadership and commitment to excellence while in service.

Other Afejuku’s friends and colleagues also paid glowing tributes to him, reminiscing their experiences with the professor.

They expressed deep admiration for Afejuku, who they said made a tremendous impact in the academic space.

Kofi Teye commended the professor’s commitment to education and his remarkable ability to inspire young minds.

Teye recounted how Afejuku motivated him in the pursuit of a higher degree in English language, saying that the professor deserves the accolades that were accorded to him by the people.
