‘How Abuja protest leader was blindfolded, arrested by DSS’

Details have emerged on how the Department of State Services (DSS) allegedly arrested one of the leaders of the #Endbadgovernance protests, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Our correspondent gathered that Adaramoye was picked up by the secret police in the early hours of Monday at his residence in the Apo area of Abuja.

The Guardian learnt that he was picked up alongside three other leaders of the Network of Abuja Left Groups.

It was also gathered that they were arrested in Gestapo style by the security operatives who arrived at their apartment in seven trucks and whisked them away blindfolded.

Giving details of the midnight operation, one of the leaders of the group, Omole Ibukun, said the leaders were held incommunicado for over 72 hours.

Ibukun, who is the Initiator of the Creative Change Centre, alleged that they were picked up on the orders of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu for their roles in Endbadgovernance protest.

He disclosed that the secret police has handed over the arrested leaders to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigerian police.

Ibukun, however, said while one of the leaders has been released, legal efforts are ongoing to free others including Adaramoye.
