A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kano State, Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, has described the #EndBadGovernance protest as a ground move to bring down President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Several social movements have criticised government policies including the removal of fuel subsidies, high inflation rate, floating of currency which led to food inflation, poverty, hunger and unemployment in the land.

But Kwankwaso believed the agitation was clouded under political interests who would never appreciate the good policies of the present administration but work against it.

Kwankwaso spoke in Kano on Friday on the heels of violence that erupted during the #EndBadGovernance protest, especially in the Northern part of the country.

He further tasked 36 state governors to utilise the N570 billion allocated to them by President Bola Tinubu on youth and women development programmes to alleviate the sufferings and hardship being encountered in the country.

The former commissioner for rural and community development, however, appealed to northerners to give Tinubu/Shetima-led government ample time to reposition the country.

Kwankwaso said, “They only did what they did to show their hatred and enmity to President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

“The underlying factor behind the protest was to whip up sentiment to dent the image of President Tinubu and the vice President, Kashim Shetima.”

The APC stalwart however expressed joy that they failed because their negative antics against the duos rather than dent their image has made them gain more popularity.

He said, “I wish to use this opportunity to also commend the National Security Adviser, Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu, the Chiefs of the Army, the DSS and the Nigeria Police for their collective actions and steps to restore normalcy in the country during and after the hunger protest.

“The N570 billion doled out to all the 36 states and the Federal capital territory is huge to make significant impacts on the life of the citizens, and I want to warn that posterity would not be kind to them if they mismanaged or diverted it for their personal use.”
