One of Nigeria’s leading firms, Energia Limited, has partnered with Oando JV to commission multi-billion-naira projects, aimed at enhancing the growth and development of seven oil-producing communities in Ndokwa West Council of Delta State.

The projects include the construction and furnishing of Okpala-Uku and Ada Palaces, Ebendo Secondary School, the 1.7km Obodougwa internal road, Obodougwa ultra-modern market, a 10-apartment corps members’ lodge, and the construction of Umusadege Azunze/Azagba Phase 1 road, among others, in Emu-Ebendo, Obodougwa, Umusam-Ogbe, Isumpe, Ogbeani, Ogbole, and Umusadege communities.

Speaking at the event, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by the State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode, commended the firms for the initiative.

The governor highlighted the exceptional performance of Oando/Energia JV in uplifting local development and expressed gratitude to both partners for meeting their corporate social responsibility mandates, adding: “I want to thank you for providing what the people need to develop their communities.”

Oyibode attributed the success of the community development projects to collaborative efforts between the oil companies and host communities, emphasising that Energia/Oando JV has aligned with the state government’s mission for meaningful development and scholarships.

He cautioned oil-producing communities against disrupting oil company activities in the state, urging that internal issues should be resolved locally to avoid hindering community development.

Managing Director of Energia Limited, Chidi Egonu, restated the company’s commitment to community development over the past 14 years, saying its philosophy is to grow the community in tandem with the company.

Representing Alex ‘Ainojie’ Irune, Chief Operating Officer of Oando Energy Resources, Seyi Fowora, restated the commitment to leaving communities better than they met them.

He emphasised that the projects are a legacy for the future, ensuring social-economic development through job creation and increased local capacity.

Chairman of Ebendo Community Development Association (ECDA), Godwin Ozonor, commended Oando/Energia JV for funding and executing projects that have transformed the Ebendo community over the past 18 years and urged swift completion of the ongoing 1.397km road.

On his part, the Obodougwa community development chairman,
Ogbuefi Anslem Oyibo, lauded the oil companies for executing much needed projects, adding that their initiatives have contributed to education and community development.

He noted that the community will not forget in a hurry the scholarship offered to 38 higher institution students, and funds provided to over 100 youths and women to run micro-credit schemes.
