Engineers urge government to resuscitate MSMEs, create jobs
The Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers has advised the Federal Government to resuscitate Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) to solve unemployment problem facing the country.
President of the association, Prof. Sam Adefila stated this at the society’s 48th annual conference with the theme: “Promoting vibrant micro, small and medium scale enterprises: Key to industrialization” held in Abeokuta.
He said: “The demand of the poor or unemployed people is not food, but, various types of inputs and facilities that could help them generate income on the basis of their skills and proficiencies”.
Adefila tasked government to review current economic strategies and seek the co-operation of relevant stakeholders to improve significantly on the state of infrastructural facilities and transform them to standard levels that could support industrialisation.
