Sardaunan-Gombe, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has pleaded with Gombe State governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya not to allow the state to descend to chaos through orchestrated political violence.

Dr. Gwamna condemned the recent attempts by some alleged political thugs to prevent the Senator representing Gombe Central in the Senate, Dr. Muhammad Danjuma Goje, from entering the state capital.

He noted that nothing should be allowed to rupture the climate of peace pervading the state, stressing that Gombe State can only prosper in an atmosphere of social harmony and political peace.

His words: “On this note, I must say that it is undeserving and highly disrespectful for miscreants to attack a leader and father, whose influence has not only benefitted Gombe, but also the Northeast and Nigeria in general.

“The attempt on the personal liberty of Senator Goje, by the hoodlums and whoever sponsored such should be seen as a major setback to the peace and ideals of harmonious politics in Gombe State.”

While recalling that the state has always remained peace-loving by all standards, Sarduanan-Gombe contended that since “every Nigerian has come to see Gombe as home, nothing should be allowed to jeopardise the prevailing peace on the altar of personal interest or unpopular politics.”

Insisting that Gombe people celebrate their heroes and heroines, Dr. Gwamna declared: “We are known to be well-cultured politically, as such we must continue on that path by ensuring that we give honour to whom it is due.

“We celebrate our heroes, we don’t disrespect them, hence the recent attack, which is alien to us must not be allowed to repeat itself, especially in the interest of peace and development as we go into 2023 election season.”

He remarked that, apart from being a former governor, Senator Goje has raised and mentored, as well as empowered a lot of persons, who are very much relevant in the current political architecture of the state.

“Senator Goje deserves that salute as a political general,” he stated, adding, “Attempts to deny him access to a state he also contributed to its development in an unmatchable manner is an act of ingratitude, which Gombawa, home and abroad should condemn.”

The Sardaunan-Gombe, therefore, urged every citizen of the state to embrace peace and stability as a rule, stressing that “we have no other state to call home except Gombe.”

To ensure that there was no repeat of such ugly incidence, Dr. Gwamna tasked the security operatives to conduct thorough investigations to ascertain the sponsors and perpetrators, insisting that anyone found guilty should be dealt with according to the law.
