The Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty Igwe Samuel Asadu, has celebrated the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on the occasion of her 65th birthday, describing her as a “rare gem” committed to the empowerment of women and national development.
In a congratulatory message issued in Abuja, Asadu praised Mrs Tinubu’s unwavering advocacy for women’s rights, education, healthcare access, and her consistent efforts to inspire progress across the country.
The monarch, who is also the traditional ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in Nsukka Local Government Area, commended the First Lady’s decision to convert birthday gifts into donations for the completion of the National Library project, saying it reflected her selflessness and passion for education.
Asadu, a former Chairman of the Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Council of Traditional Leaders of Africa (Nigeria Chapter), noted that Mrs Tinubu had in August been conferred with the chieftaincy title Ugosimba 1 of Enugu during her visit to the state. The title, which translates as Precious Jewel Who Radiates Strength or Jewel of Women’s Empowerment, was bestowed in recognition of her contributions to humanitarian work and women’s health advocacy.
“On behalf of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, I extend my best wishes to you, Ugosimba 1 of Enugu, on your 65th birthday. Your dedication to women’s empowerment, education, and national progress is a trailblazing example worthy of emulation,” Asadu said.
The First Lady, a former senator, had in a video message marking her birthday expressed gratitude to God while urging friends and associates to prioritise donations towards the completion of the National Library project rather than gifts or lavish celebrations.
